How Dr. Marsh approaches it
Rhinoplasty is as much about what is preserved as what is changed. Dr. Marsh favours structural techniques that keep or rebuild the nose's support, so the result holds up over decades and the airway is protected or improved. Every plan is drawn with you on your own photographs. Revision cases, where cartilage grafts are often needed, are a particular focus.
Usually a good candidate
- A dorsal hump or drooping tip
- A nose that feels too large or wide for the face
- Breathing difficulty from a deviated septum
- Revision of a previous rhinoplasty
What we will discuss honestly
- Swelling at the tip takes a year to fully settle
- Thick skin limits how much definition is possible
- Revision surgery is more complex and more expensive
- Minimum age is usually 16 to 17, when growth is complete
- Every operation carries risks of bleeding, infection, scarring, anesthesia complications, and the need for revision. They are specific to you and are reviewed in writing before you consent.
How long it lasts
Permanent, with normal ageing. Ageing continues; the operation resets the clock rather than stopping it. Weight stability, sun protection, and not smoking are the three things that most protect a result.
The path
- Consultation. Ninety minutes with Dr. Marsh. Measurements, photographs, simulation where relevant, and a written plan with the complete fee. $250, credited toward surgery.
- Pre-operative visit. Two weeks before: labs, medical clearance where needed, consent, prescriptions, and the plan reviewed once more.
- Surgery. In an accredited surgery center with a board-certified anesthesiologist. Home the same day.
- Follow-up. Day one or two, one week, two weeks, six weeks, three months, six months, and a year. All included.
Fictional procedure description on a website concept. Not medical advice. Results vary, and a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon is required.
