How Dr. Marsh approaches it

Reduction removes tissue and skin, lifts the breast, and repositions the nipple, usually keeping it attached to its blood supply. The relief from symptoms is often immediate. Insurance occasionally covers reduction when symptoms are documented; the practice will help with the paperwork, though approval is never assumed.

Usually a good candidate

  • Neck, shoulder, and back pain from breast weight
  • Bra strap grooving and rashes under the breast
  • Difficulty exercising
  • Proportion and comfort

What we will discuss honestly

  • Scars are permanent, though they fade
  • Nipple sensation and breastfeeding may be affected
  • Weight should be stable before surgery
  • Insurance coverage is possible but not guaranteed
  • Every operation carries risks of bleeding, infection, scarring, anesthesia complications, and the need for revision. They are specific to you and are reviewed in writing before you consent.

How long it lasts

Lasting, subject to weight change. Ageing continues; the operation resets the clock rather than stopping it. Weight stability, sun protection, and not smoking are the three things that most protect a result.

The path

  1. Consultation. Ninety minutes with Dr. Marsh. Measurements, photographs, simulation where relevant, and a written plan with the complete fee. $250, credited toward surgery.
  2. Pre-operative visit. Two weeks before: labs, medical clearance where needed, consent, prescriptions, and the plan reviewed once more.
  3. Surgery. In an accredited surgery center with a board-certified anesthesiologist. Home the same day.
  4. Follow-up. Day one or two, one week, two weeks, six weeks, three months, six months, and a year. All included.

Fictional procedure description on a website concept. Not medical advice. Results vary, and a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon is required.
